Health and life stages · Training at a heavier weight
Nothing in your plan asks you to lie flat on your back.
Lying flat can make breathing harder, and impact loads joints that are already carrying more. Neither is a limit on how hard you work. They are limits on position, and the app treats them that way.
The rule
Upright or seated. Not easier — different.
Exercises done lying on your back or face down come off the list, a flat bench included. Jumping and landing come off. What comes in instead is standing and supported strength, machines, bands, and cardio that does not pound a joint — a bike, an elliptical, an incline walk.
Read that list again and notice what is not on it: anything about effort. The sets, the reps and the intent are the real thing. An app that responds to your size by making everything gentle has misunderstood the problem. The problem is the position, not the person.
Why you do not have to tick a box
The people who most needed this rule were the least likely to ask for it.
This used to work only if you tapped a pill on your evaluation that said “Obesity” about yourself. It is not hard to see why a lot of people did not.
So somebody 6′7″ and 400 lb, who had not tapped it, was handed four exercises lying on his back or draped face down over a ball — the exact two positions the rule exists to remove. The rule was right. The door to it was wrong.
The evaluation already asks your height and your weight. Now the rules switch on from those, the same way the over-60 rules switch on from your age. You can still tick the box if you want to. You no longer have to describe yourself to be given a programme that fits you.
And it will not guess. No height or no weight means no figure and nothing switches on — because a rule that fires on an assumption is worse than one that waits.
What you actually get
The same programme, built around the floor you can get up from.
-
Strength first, not a step count.
You get a real strength programme on the same six-phase model everyone gets. Holding muscle is what makes the rest work, and that is true whether or not losing weight is the goal.
-
Cardio your knees agree with.
A bike, an elliptical, an incline walk. Not because you cannot work hard, but because a joint carrying more does not need a landing added to it.
-
The camera still watches.
It draws the measured angle on your body and names what it sees, in your own front room with the door shut. For a lot of people that is the whole reason this works — no gym, nobody looking.
-
Food that is part of the same plan.
Targets built from the same profile as the training, not a separate app with a separate opinion. On a GLP-1 it holds your protein up while the weight comes down.
Before anything else
This is coaching, not medicine.
VeraForma does not diagnose anything, does not treat anything, and has no opinion on medication or surgery. Those belong to your doctor. What it does is build training that fits the body you have today.
If a clinician has given you instructions, log what they told you and the app follows them everywhere, on a free account.
The movement screen and the programme that comes out of it are free.
