Who this is not for.
Every app tells you who it is for. Here is the other list, because a month of your money and a month of your time is a worse outcome for us than you reading this and leaving.
Seven honest ones
If you are one of these, save your money.
-
You are in pain right now and have not seen anyone about it.
See a doctor or a physiotherapist first. Not as a disclaimer — genuinely first. This is coaching, not medicine: it does not diagnose anything, and training around an undiagnosed problem is how a small one becomes a long one.
Come back after: once somebody has looked at you, log what they said and the training follows it.
-
You want somebody to tell you what to do and nothing else.
There are excellent apps that hand you a session and ask nothing of you. This one films you, names things you are doing wrong, and asks you to do dull corrective work before the interesting part. If being told your squat has a problem would put you off training entirely, that is a real answer and this is the wrong tool.
-
You have no way to prop a phone up.
The whole thing rests on the camera being able to see you from a few feet away. No shelf, no stack of books, nowhere to put it — and you lose the half of this that makes it different. The log still works. So does a notebook.
-
You are chasing a competitive total this quarter.
If you are peaking for a meet, you need a coach who knows your lifts and your calendar, not a general programme. Brad does that in person, or find somebody local who does. The app is built for the other ninety-five per cent of people.
-
You only want the social part.
There is no feed here, no posts, no leaderboard. Friends can see finished workouts and send a high-five, and that is deliberately where it stops. If the thing that gets you to the gym is an audience, you will be bored.
-
You need it in a language other than English.
The app is English-only today. Not “mostly English” — English. If that is a problem it is a real problem and we are not going to pretend a translation is coming next week.
-
You want an iPhone app from the App Store this minute.
It is in Apple’s review and it is not on the store yet. You can use the whole thing in your iPhone’s browser today and add it to your home screen, and plenty of people do — but if an App Store download is what you came for, it is not there yet.
Why print this
Because the alternative is worse. For us.
A business that sells to everybody collects refunds, one-star reviews and people who feel they were sold something. We would rather be smaller and right about who we are for.
It is also the same rule we apply everywhere else here: the comparison names what thirty-two rival apps do better than us, the free tool that totals your spending tells you to keep what you have if it is cheaper, and we publish no accuracy number for our own camera because nobody in this category publishes one and we will not be the first to publish one we cannot show the working for.
Still here? Then the screen is free, it takes a few minutes, and it will tell you more about how you move than anything else you can do on a phone tonight.
