The one question

Does it ever look at you?

Trainwell is a real human trainer in an app. On 13 October 2026 we read its own US App Store description, word for word, and counted. The word “camera” appears zero times. So we put the simple question to it: when you train, who is watching the set?

Trainwell: A human, who sends “video feedback, form-check breakdowns, and coaching cues”. Its live in-workout feedback comes from an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch, not a camera.

A watch knows how your wrist moved. It cannot see your knees.

VeraForma: your phone camera, during the set, drawing the measured angle on your body — and a NASM Master Trainer who settles it if you think the camera got a rep wrong.

VeraForma beside Trainwell, row by row.

Every Trainwell cell is from its own US App Store listing, read on 13 October 2026. “Not found” means it is not in what that company wrote about its own app — not that the feature cannot exist.

Before you switch

What Trainwell does better than us.

A named human who writes your programme, answers your messages and gets on a call with you. That is a real service and $149 is not an unreasonable price for it.

If you want a person, hire a person — Trainwell is one way and Brad is another. VeraForma is for the 167 hours a week nobody is watching.

And the limit of this page, stated plainly: we counted a word in a store listing. A company leaving “camera” out of its own description is not proof it has no camera feature — it is proof of what it chose to lead with. The listing we counted is linked below so you can check it in one tap, and if Trainwell ships a camera coach tomorrow this page is wrong the next day. That is why it carries a date.
